Nancy Day Sandlin, Superintendent

Welcome to Buckholts ISD!  We are a quiet little district in the rolling hills of Central Texas.  We offer educational opportunities with global expectations, providing personal attention to our approximately 150 students.

33% of our high students are taking dual credit classes this spring, and we now offer Pre-AP and AP classes to our students.  Our FFA students are competitive and successful, with one of our students winning Grand Champion Broilers in the Houston Stock Show in March of 2018.  Our PALS program offers our elementary and middle school students high school mentors, and our UIL program is stronger than its ever been!  Stop by for a visit.  We'd love to show you around!

I have a strong background in education.  I spent 28 years as a teacher in classes from Pre-K to High School: 2 years in Lockhart at Lockhart High School, 11 years teaching Pre-K in Kerrville at St. Peter's Day School, and 15 years in Ingram teaching 6-8 ELAR at Ingram Middle School.  From there I went to Victoria for 2.5 years to work as a Leadership/Accountability/Assessment/School Improvement Specialist at Region III Educational Service Center.  I was able to work with 40 schools in the region and helped several get out of accountability trouble.  I then moved to Edna to work as their Director of Curriculum and Instruction for four years and their Assistant Principal at Edna Elementary for half of a year.

My husband and I have two grown children and two grand-dogs.  My precious mother has moved to Buckholts to live with my husband and me, and you may find us sitting on the porch in the evenings watching the sunset.

I have fallen for the Buckholts students, their teachers, and this community.  We all look forward to another fantastic year!
